Over 6000 English words are from Greek origin

The other untold story of Greece. Did you know that English language will disappear without the Greek words which have been embedded into English for the past 500 years?  There are believed to be over 6000 Greek words which make the English language today, words like democracy and politics are all Greek words. Did you know that any word that start with a prefix para- and phobia are all Greek words?

The following  few are all from Greek;
Gram, meter, phobia, phone, academy, acrobat, alphabet, amnesia, anonymous, aristocrat, athlete, bar, bishop, buffalo, cathedral, bio, chorus, Christ,  democracy, cynic, diploma, dogma,  drama, ego, echo,  exodus, hero, hetero, hippopotamus, helicopter, gynae, geo, gymnasium, idea, hydro, history, horizon, isotope, kilo, logarithm, marathon, martyr, mechanic, melody, method, micro, monarch, mystery, neural, ocean, orphan, Olympic, moron, panic, panorama, just to mention a few directly borrowed Greek words.

One wonders where did the Green got it wrong, they gave the world the first philosophers, mind you the word is Greek as well?  Philosophers like Plato, Socrates and Descartes were all Greek self-taught philosophers and scholars.  Today Greek is equated to Zimbabwe, financially desperate and at the verge of bankruptcy. What language is English then if over 6000 words spoken in English are Greek words?
