The Zimbabwe we want community voluntary research project goes viral. Since the appeal for community researchers to come forward and participate in this noble voluntary project, response has been overwhelming and so far submitted pilot research projects, have shown both high standard and a progressive passion by Zimbabweans across all spectrum and political divide. This will prove exciting and a reservoir of
information about the opportunities and missed opportunities in Zimbabwe. It
will undoubtedly contribute to both scholarly work and a source of information
for policy markers. Being close to community needs, it will give the
communities the tools to empower themselves for a greater, wealthier and just
Zimbabwe.
Research Data in this country is not
readily available for Investment, social services provision and political
strategic view. Where the data existed it is heavily watered down by the ZANU PF
government and sometimes deliberately distorted. It is under this background
that this community research project to be undertaken by volunteers will bridge
this gap, by making information available for both tourists, investors, policy
makers, entrepreneurs, traditional community leaders, civic society and other
institutions. A total of 32 community researchers have expressed their interest
to volunteer in putting this research project together.
The
thematic areas covered are as follows:
1. The politics of land and wealth
creation in Zimbabwe
2. Zimbabwe, Challenges in job creation
3. Where are they now (Zimbabweans in Diaspora)?
4. The plight of small scale farmers in Zimbabwe
5. The poor, the wealth and the filthy rich; how did they come to be?
6. Attracting foreign Investment in Zimbabwe
7. A case study of ghost towns in a post Independent Zimbabwe.
8. The growth of informal sector, the untold story.
9. Who are the political players in Zimbabwe? The role of opposition in a ZANU PF dominated government.
10. How do you fix a polarised country like Zimbabwe?
11. The role of
the media in development and politics in Zimbabwe2. Zimbabwe, Challenges in job creation
