MDC Academics have scooped top competitive scholarship awards for the past 16 years with Bindura Town taking 33% of 12 SIDA scholarships awarded to Zimbabwe in the past 16 years I can reveal, ZANU PF government through the Ministry of Women’s Affairs taking 2, while MDC taking 5 awards.
Recipients includes;
Elliot Pfebve, MDC who won twice (2000 and 2009),
Tapera Macheka, MDC (2013),
Thamasanga Dengazela, MDC (2014) and
Tinashe Madamombe (2015)
A tough selection which is awarded annually and open globally is limited to 25 awards with this year one open to the following targeted countries;
Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, Cambodia, Kosovo, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra
Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe (457 million population)
The competition is tough with a potential competition open to a combined 457 million people (Population of target group). For MDC to win 5 and Bindura alone winning 4, is a sign of academic prowess.
Well done MDC and Bindura.
